TractorPoint.com newbie looking for new replacement tractor for ancient Minneapolis Moline. I maintain the dirt runways on a Gliderport near Reno via a 7’ flail mower for the weeds and dragging weights with trailing smoothing chains for the ruts. Land is flat without bumps. We don’t maintain the road right-of-ways, so no tilted operations. No FEL applications. No winter, snow, or mud operations. Weeds can be hip height but can also be cut down with an industrial strength lawn mower or weed whacker.
What’s the minimum tractor horsepower and PTO horsepower I should be looking for to tackle this application and operating the 7’ flail mower?
Many thank in advance.

I think a Deere 990 (40 hp) would fill the new postion nicely. A Kioti DK45 would be another nice choice. You could make due less hp and size but I think the 990 would pretty much cover the bases. VERY reliable machine and bullet proof design. Lot of tractor for the money with both machines. ....
